Should You Get Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection?

As expected, The Ezio Collection features all three last-gen Assassin's Creed games starring Ezio Auditore da Firenze - Assassin's Creed 2, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin's Creed: Revelations - with visual enhancements for PS4 and Xbox One.

Ubisoft has now sold more than 100 million Assassin's Creed games since the franchise debuted nine years ago in 2007.

Ubisoft made the official announcement today, confirming recent reports that a set of titles were being worked for launch.

The Ezio Collection will also include all single-player expansions from each title, as well as mini-episodes released by Ubisoft focusing on Ezio's backstory.

While the publisher revealed that the trilogy will not include the hide-and-seek competitive multiplayer first introduced in Brotherhood, a very similar mode is included in 2013's Black Flag.

Additionally, pre-ordering the collection will score you a free movie ticket to the Assassin's Creed movie, which comes out December 21st.

For returning fans, I'm not really an advocate of buying the same game again just for slightly prettier graphics. Assassin's Creed Lineage, released in 2009, follows the life of Ezio's father, while Assassin's Creed Embers, released in 2011, chronicles an older Ezio who is called on to once again serve the Assassins. The original games still look fine, so if you have an Xbox 360 or PS3 kicking around, it's best to revisit them in their current form and save yourself some money. The three games have been remastered to run in 1080p, though their framerate still holds steady at 30fps, and has not been bumped up.
