Denis Villeneuve Confirmed As Director Of Dune Remake

Last fall, while promoting the release of his stunning sci-fi drama Arrival, Denis Villeneuve revealed his dream project: A new adaptation of Frank Herbert's classic Dune. Dune's expansive plot and complex political dynamics can not truly be distilled into a pithy description, but one way to think about the novel, for those unfamiliar, is like Game of Thrones in space. However, the film wasn't meant to be and the project never achieved liftoff. Next up for the esteemed filmmaker is the release of Blade Runner 2049 on October 6th.

Here's hoping Denis, who is in the running for a Best Director Oscar this year, is more successful than his predecessors in doing Dune justice.

In 1974, the rights changed hands and visionary Chilean director Alejandro Jodorowsky was tapped to direct a massive 10-hour film adaptation.

Bolt returns gold medal from 2008 4x100 relay
Carter's positive drug test would mean that Bolt can not be considered a gold medal victor for the triple-treble races. More than 100 athletes have so far tested positive in retests from the Beijing and London Olympics.

The future looks promising for Dune under Villeneuve's direction, and we hope that Herbert's vision can make it to the big screen correctly this time. He's also in the midst of putting together Blade Runner 2049, for later this year. The studio has a rather spotty reputation when it comes to its films, as they've produced multiple sci-fi successes (Interstellar, Jurassic World), but have plenty of busts under their belts as well (Jonah Hex, Warcraft). The tale was also adapted as a TV miniseries in 2000.

The disaster was the inspiration of a 2013 documentary titled Jodorowsky's Dune.
