Chris Kennedy to Oppose Governor Rauner

He's expected to run against current Governor, republican Bruce Rauner, if he wins the primary. "In the history of our state, we've probably never had a worse governor", said the 53-year-old former chairman of the Merchandise Mart in Chicago.

Chicago Alderman Ameya Pawar became the first announced Democrat to run for governor, but several other members of the party are considering a run - including another Chicago businessman, J.B. Pritzker, the Chicago Tribune reported. He is one of four grandchildren of Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr. and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy born during the administration of his uncle, U.S. President John F. Kennedy. He is now leading the real estate development in downtown Chicago known as Wolf Point.

"It's time for IL to again embrace the American Dream - the notion that we are a country and a state where anyone can make it and where unlimited opportunity is the promise of our country", Kennedy said. He and his wife Sheila Sinclair Kennedy run Top Box Foods, a hunger-relief nonprofit.

"Every job I've had, every organization I've been a part of, has relied on teams working together and shared leadership, which resulted in shared success", he added. He also served as chairman of the University of Illinois Board of Trustees from 2009 through 2015.

He and his wife were relaxing when he received a call from White House chief of staff Reince Priebus. The plan is to build the wall where it's needed first and then fill it in, Kelly believed.

Kennedy plans to tackle Rauner's failures as well as try to rebuild the state's dire economy. In 2011, Hanah was appointed by Governor Quinn to serve a second term to the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

"Mike Madigan endorsing a run for governor by Chris Kennedy tells you everything you need to know about Chris Kennedy", Illinois Republican Party spokesman Steven Yaffe said.

House Speaker, Michael Madigan says Kennedy will make an "excellent candidate".

But he also indirectly criticized the Republican governor, who has locked horns with the Democrat-controlled state legislature and is stuck in a historic stalemate that has left the state without a budget for some 19 months.
