Police posted on Twitter that they arrested about seven protesters, but added that the demonstration was mainly peaceful.

Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos is seen locked in a van on February 8, 2017, outside ICE headquarters in Phoenix. She was detained and within 24 hours she was deported to her native Mexico.

"I'd ask him 'why he would want to take her from me?' She hasn't done anything wrong and I'm not scared of him", said Garcia's daughter Jaqueline, of what she would ask President Trump if she could.

Her 16-year-old son Angel said: "She's always there for me. There's no waiver she can submit", Maldonado said. She was married there, worked there, and raised a family there. "She hasn't done anything to harm anyone".

Garcia de Rayos's children were born in the United States and they remain there with her husband.

Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos was taken into custody on Wednesday and deported to Mexico on Thursday.

Garcia de Rayos might be the first undocumented immigrant arrested during a meeting with immigration officials since Trump took office, lawyers from civil rights groups told The New York Times.

Trump campaigned on a promise to reform the US immigration system and secure the border with Mexico, a country he accused of sending its "most unwanted people into the United States", including drug dealers and rapists.

Later, speaking at the shelter, Jacqueline said: "We don't deserve to go through this; no family deserves to go through this". "This is where we formed our lives and this is where our children were born".

Garcia de Rayos, CNN reported, was arrested in 2008 during a workplace raid and was convicted one year later of criminal impersonation - a felony charge in Arizona.

After spending six months in jail, she was released. In past visits, she answered questions that were put to her and went home. She never had a problem until now.
