Mavs offer to pay full remaining salary on Deron Williams' contract

Deron Williams is now in his second season with the Dallas Mavericks.

Utah selected Williams as the No. 3 overall by Utah in the 2005 draft, where he became an All-Star for two years (2010, 2011). He now has the ability to veto any trade that the front office in Dallas comes up with, especially if he doesn't want to play for a specific "new" city. Now an interesting suitor has emerged: his former team, the Utah Jazz.

Williams, who is only under contract for the rest of this season, has been a solid performer with 13.1 points and 6.9 assists per game.

He, along with a core that featured Carlos Boozer, Paul Millsap, and Kyle Korver, led the team to four consecutive playoff appearances between 2006-10, including a trip to the Western Conference Finals which resulted in a 4-1 loss to San Antonio in 2007.

Things that make you go, "hmm".

Logan will have a post-credits scene, so stay until the end
I was lucky enough to see an early screening of Logan a few days ago, and that screening did not feature a post-credits scene. Not that he's exactly eager to accept this newfound responsibility-he's far too tired to play the hero once more.

Last season with Dallas, Williams averaged 14.1 points, a team-high 5.8 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 32.4 minutes in 65 games (63 starts).

Both Bogut and Williams have been considered to be on the trade block with the latter being most recently linked to the Utah Jazz.

The NBA Trade Deadline has come and gone, with the biggest move being the Dallas Mavericks acquiring center Nerlens Noel from the Philadelphia 76ers.

Should Dallas move both of these players, it would surely enable the team to get draft pick compensation and potentially a youngster in return. The veteran would have to forfeit his free-agent Bird rights if he is dealt to another team, but he still has a lot of love for Utah.

Deron Williams' career has steadily trended down for the past several years.
