Sixers' Joel Embiid out indefinitely with knee soreness, swelling

Embiid is now out indefinitely with swelling in his knee, and will have an MRI on Monday.

While the No. 1 overall pick from last year's NBA Draft has yet to make his professional debut, he will now undergo a "minor foot procedure to stimulate bone growth [and] accelerate healing".

Star Sixers center Joel Embiid is out indefinitely, the team announced today. The 6-foot-10 Australian won't make his National Basketball Association debut this season because the foot hasn't healed as quickly as expected from the fracture suffered during the team's final training camp scrimmage in October. Embiid has only played one game since January 20 and has missed 13 straight games in Philadelphia.

On Thursday, the Sixers said Embiid's target date to return is Friday, March 3rd.
