Romelu Lukaku will not sign a new Everton contract unless there is an "escape clause" allowing him to join a big club, according to reports in Belgium.

Lukaku has supposedly turned down the most lucrative contract offer in the club's history, worth £140,000 a week. "Talks are ongoing. He will sign".

Everton paid a lot of money to Chelsea and they won't sell the Belgian striker for less money.

Everton have dismissed suggestions star striker Romelu Lukaku will leave Goodison Park at the end of the current season.

Lukaku informed the Blues' hierarchy that he had no plans to commit to a proposed five-year deal despite repeated pledges from agent Mino Raiola.

Talks between Everton and Lukaku regarding a new contract worth £140,000-a-week broke down on Tuesday (14 March), with the Belgian worldwide once again stating his desire to play Champions League football.
