Honda WR-V launched at starting price at Rs 7.79 lakh

Honda has revealed the price of the much-awaited compact crossover called the WR-V at its global launch event in India. Priced from Rs 7.75 lakh, ex-Delhi, the Honda WR-V shares its underpinnings with the Jazz. Unlike the Jazz there's no option of an Earthdreams CVT in petrol, so the WR-V is only available with manual gearboxes; 5-speed unit in the petrol and 6-speed in the diesel.

The new vehicle is based on the Jazz platform and it comes with both petrol and diesel variants.

The company said WR-V is the first model developed by Honda R&D India along with Honda R&D, Japan, to match the needs and aspirations of young Indian customers who are looking for status, comfort and have an active lifestyle. Other features are rear wiper and washer, driver side one touch power window, front map lamp, tweeters, micro antenna and side vanity mirrors.

Unfortunately the base variant of the WR-V misses out the features such as steering mounted controls, automatic climate control and engine start stop. Based on Honda's most successful platform world-wide, WR-V has the best of Honda technology and design.

This is the second SUV-type vehicle from Honda after it brought out the BR-V past year. It comes with a 1.2 litre i-VTEC Petrol engine which has a capacity to churn out 89 bhp and a torque of 110 Nm.
