Ivanka Trump to become unpaid federal employee in White House

Ivanka Trump's title will be special assistant to the president.

Just 66 days into Trump's presidency, White House officials say they plan to move on from healthcare to tax reform. Still, ethics experts have raised concerns that by not becoming an official employee, she could skirt transparency and ethical provisions.

The first daughter announced Wednesday that she will serve as an unpaid employee in the White House.

The WHCA president said only the White House can comment of their intention of skipping the dinner but, "our signal is clear: We will celebrate the First Amendment on April 29 and look forward to acknowledging the important work of our terrific members and awarding scholarships to students who represent the next generation of our profession".

Now, Ivanka Trump will be an "adviser' to the President, and will file her own Form 278, which means she is legally bound by the ethics rules".

"President Donald Trump's White House staff will not be attending the White House Correspondents" Dinner in "solidarity" with the president.

Trump's attorney, Jamie S. Gorelick, said: "Ivanka's decision reflects both her commitment to compliance with federal ethics standards and her openness to opposing points of view".

Intelligence committee members disagree on dust-up involving Devin Nunes

Russian police detain opposition leader, dozens of protesters
Thousands of people filled central Pushkin Square, some shouting " Russia without Putin", referring to President Vladimir Putin. Violence broke out during the demonstrations on Sunday, with many protesters accusing the police of using excessive force.

But Trump's interest reflects the strained state of his relations with conservatives in his party and his search for a way to regain his footing after the painful withdrawal of his health care legislation last Friday.

"Reports that President Trump had presented the federal chancellor with a kind of bill with a concrete billion sum are not true", spokesman [for the German government] Steffen Seibert said at a press conference.

Trump previously announced she was getting a West Wing office and a security clearance, but would not officially join the administration.

Trump will continue in that capacity, serving as the President's "eyes and ears", per Gorelick.

Ivanka Trump changed her mind. She took an even higher profile this week, making formal remarks at an event encouraging women in STEM at Smithsonian's Air and Space museum on Tuesday.

Spicer accused her of having an "agenda" in his answer and told her, 'It seems like you're hell-bent on trying to make sure that whatever image you want to tell about this White House stays'. "It definitely complicates matters when someone who can't be fired - aka a family member - is this involved in an administration", she said.
