His comments come on the same day that United States Ambassador Nikki Haley claimed that the USA does not see a "peaceful Syria" if Assad is in power. Russian Federation maintains a close political and military alliance with the Assad government and has been implicated in numerous attacks against Syrians opposed to Assad's rule, though Moscow adamantly denies such claims.
