CLIVE DAVIS: THE SOUNDTRACK OF OUR LIVES will have its World Premiere as the Opening Night film at the Tribeca Film Festival in the iconic Radio City Music Hall on April 19. The concert at Radio City Music Hall also featured performances from Jennifer Hudson, Earth Wind & Fire, Barry Manilow, Carly Simon and Dionne Warwick.

Hudson opened her set with a rendition of "Hallelujah" before unleashing a medley of Houston hits that included "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" and "How Will I Know". But when it's someone like Clive Davis, the night turns into exactly what the opening of a film festival should be: A star-studded affair including an insightful and heartwarming documentary, all topped off with performances from a lineup of legendary artists. Davis earned a loud cheer from the audience when he started dancing.

"Clive is not only the chieftain who sits in an executive office and takes care of all the business, but he takes care of the artists as well", she said. The 85-year-old Davis, who admitted that he did not originally seek a career in music, said Wednesday, "I had no inkling that music would be my passion of life". Tragically, Houston died on the night of Davis' 2012 pre-Grammy party, and the film explores his loss there, in the context of being orphaned in college when both of his parents died within a year of one another. "It certainly gives a very compelling picture of the relationship that I had with Whitney Houston and of course that's filled with emotional impact, and it really showed sides of Whitney that no one has ever seen before".

Davis is the producer behind artists such as Aretha Franklin, Patti Smith, Bruce Springsteen, and Alicia Keys.

DOJ asks sanctuary cities to prove cooperation with immigration law
Earlier this week, Sessions accused sanctuary cities of undermining law enforcement efforts to fight transnational street gangs. At a news conference, O'Neill said his "blood began to boil" when he read the feds' statement criticizing his department.

Davis describes how he went from "knowing nothing" about music in the early '60s to finding out later he had a natural gift.

"What a movie", Manilow yelled before he sang some of his popular hits. "This is in our hands now".

Specific information regarding Apple's acquisition of the documentary are unclear at this point.
