Kangana Ranaut is playing the title character and the makers are going to officially launch the film today evening at Varanasi.

Dressed in a gold nauvari saree by ace designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee and a tangerine brocade blouse, Kangana performed the aarti and took dips in the river at the "Dashaswmedha Ghat". Kangana did not only perform the aarti on the banks of the holy river, but she also dived into the river as per the tradition of washing off ones sins. "After coming on board for this project, I feel like I've achieved something very big in my life", said Kangana told PTI.

"I agree that I am rebellious but she (Rani Laxmi Bai) was a rebel with a cause that makes her a hero..." And it has been written by none other than Vijayendra Prasad, who has to his credit "Baahubali" and "Bajrangi Bhaijaan". "I feel whatever I have done in the last 11 years has led me to it, it completes me, I am 30 now and I don't see myself working with another director after this". So that makes me a badass.

He added that Kangana is a "queen by nature" and so, she makes a flawless choice for the film, directed by Krish.
