School bus flips in Lancaster County hit-and-run crash

CBS21 News reports 15 middle school and high school students from Lancaster Mennonite school were injured, along with the driver. The escort vehicle was then pushed into another lane, side-swiping the school bus.

Police are looking for the driver of a sedan who allegedly caused the crash by trying to pass two tractor-trailers and their escort vehicles. The crash happened at around 7:50 a.m. Wednesday on Route 30 near the intersection of Route 896, close to Fulton Steamboat Inn in East Lampeter Township. Its spokesperson John Lines said two students with trauma injuries were being transferred to children's hospitals and everyone else was treated and released. Three of the students were admitted to the trauma unit.

The driver is not in custody, Lancaster County District Attorney's Office spokesman Brett Hambright said Thursday.

Police described the suspect driving the vehicle that caused the accident and left the scene as a male with short hair driving a white Chevy Malibu with front-end damage.

Hambright said authorities want to speak with the driver.
