Here's how Apple's Siri speaker could defeat Amazon Echo and Google Home

Apple has begun manufacturing the speaker and could find its debut at this year's WWDC 2017, according to Bloomberg.

Apple Inc. shares were trading at $152.76 per share on Wednesday afternoon, down $0.91 (-0.59%). Unlike Google and Amazon, Apple doesn't sell a smart speaker that also serves as a smart home hub. Apple's device will reportedly offer virtual surround sound and advanced acoustics technologies, and the speakers that Apple is now testing are said to be louder and crisper than competing products. The speaker would likely be tucked into Apple's "Other Products" category, which now includes devices like the Apple Watch, Apple TV and AirPods.

If the report proves true and Apple does announce the Siri Speaker at WWDC, the timing makes sense.

And of course, the device would lean heavily on integration with Apple's ecosystem.

Bloomberg's recent report said the device will have an engraving that will say: "Designed by Apple in California".

An Apple spokesperson was not immediately available for comment. The device, which will take on Amazon Echo and Google Home, will give Siri a physical embodiment within the home.

Reading the tea leaves, I suspect that means Apple's Siri Speaker will be able to display information on your Apple TV or iOS device.

Apple is also expected to announce a refresh MacBook lineup, and potentially a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro model.

Apple has "considered including sensors that measure a room's acoustics and automatically adjust audio levels during use", the report claims.

Other tidbits from the report include the reality that Apple has been working on this product for a long time.

It was reported earlier this month that Apple employees were testing the Siri speaker in their homes for several months. Last year, Apple opened up Siri on the iPhone to the likes of Uber Technologies Inc. and Facebook Inc., allowing a user to order a ride or send a WhatsApp message with a voice command.
