Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman took $100.5m (£78.09m) at the US/Canada box office this weekend - the biggest domestic debut for a female director.

With Wonder Woman setting the box office alight with a $100 million USA box office opening, talk has already turned to the now-inevitable sequel.

Nevertheless, "Wonder Woman" represents a turning point for Warner Bros. and DC Comics, which have together struggled in recent years to match the Marvel-Disney juggernaut.

Wonder Woman has been banned in Lebanon due to the film's leading star, Israeli actress Gal Gadot.The decision was made by the Lebanese government who took issue with the fact that Gadot is Israeli and served in the military.
