Former UFC Fighter Tim Hague Reportedly Brain Dead After Boxing Match

The MMA star-turned-boxer is now fighting for his life after he was knocked out cold by Adam Braidwood in the second round of their match leaving him brain dead. Hague's head bounced hard off the canvas as he fell. In his UFC debut, Hague picked up a submission win over Pat Berry, unfortunately, he lost all four of his other UFC bouts that followed, continuing to fight on the Canadian regional scene, and most recently dropping a first round KO loss in Russian Federation, which took place almost a year before his boxing loss last night.

He had been knocked down three times in the first round and a further two times in the second before it was waved off.

"It is with incredible sadness, sorrow and heartbreak to report that Tim has passed away today", Hague's sister, Jackie Neil said in a statement Sunday.

The 34-year-old was rushed to Royal Alexandra hospital in Edmonton where he had to have surgery to relieve pressure on his brain.

'Tim remains in critical condition.

RealFightStories.com reported Saturday night that Hague was on life support as his family made arrangements for organ donations. His last MMA bout was in July 2016 where he was knocked out with a head kick and punches from Michael Andryszak.

Ricky Hatton is a British former professional boxer who competed from 1997 to 2012. Hague finished his MMA career with a record of 21-13, including five bouts inside of the UFC Octagon.

Hague spent years working as a schoolteacher before turning to MMA.
