Randolph was arrested on Friday for two counts of causing injury to a child. The children were unresponsive and Randolph said she broke a window to gain entry.

The charges stem from the May 26 deaths of Randolph's 2-year-old daughter and 16-month-old son, when temperatures topped 96 degrees at the family's home in Weatherford, Texas, which is about 30 miles west of Fort Worth.

At first, authorities say that the suspect told them that she was folding laundry while her children were outside playing. After several story changes, police learned she locked them in the vehicle to teach them a lesson because her daughter Juliet didn't obey her and wouldn't get out of the auto when asked.

Parker County Sheriff's Department investigators arrested Cynthia Randolph after admitting that she left her kids in the auto to "teach them a lesson".

The children were pronounced dead about a half-hour after authorities were notified.

Randolph was booked into Parker County Jail on Friday.
