Emenalo Quits Chelsea over Row with Conte

Chelsea chairperson Bruce Buck praised Emenalo's work.

Chelsea has announced Michael Emenalo has stepped down from his position as technical director.

The former Nigeria worldwide announced he would be stepping down from his position where he's been in charge of player recruitment, the academy and Chelsea's loan network.

He presided over the signings of key players such as Eden Hazard, Cesar Azpilicueta, Thibaut Courtois and N'Golo Kante, as well as a Chelsea academy that has emerged as a dominant force in English and European youth football.

'He's shown great humility to go on loan and work very hard while he was there and gain the experience which is needed, and the timing is right for him now to step in and show what he's learnt during those periods of development. That will likely only become apparent when the power that Emenalo has left vacant at Chelsea is re-assigned. I wish Chelsea every success and look forward to following the club's future triumphs from afar'.
