Following the test, US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley called for other countries to sever all ties with Pyongyang, including cutting trade links and expelling North Korean workers.

"If they want to find a pretext for destroying North Korea, as the U.S. envoy said at the UN Security Council, then let them say it outright and let the supreme American leadership confirm it".

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday (01/12) that a U.S. threat to destroy North Korea in the event of a war was "a bloodthirsty tirade" and that military action against Pyongyang would be a big mistake, Russian news agencies reported.

Speaking during a visit to the Belarussian capital Minsk, Lavrov asked whether America was actively seeking to destroy North Korea.

While it's true that China could intervene, Wicker further said, allowing Kim Jong-un to flaunt the United States gives China "leverage" with the US and other countries who need its help.

The secretary stressed that Russian Federation will not allow military action against North Korea, after the USA diplomat at the United Nations threatened Pyongyang with destruction. "We do not see any reasonable alternative to it", it said.

While Russia condemned North Korea's latest missile test, Lavrov also raised concerns about the large-scale U.S. "We have already said many times that sanctions pressure has exhausted itself".

U.S. President Donald Trump said in October he would not certify that Tehran was complying with the 2015 deal and warned he might ultimately terminate it, accusing Iran of "not living up to the spirit" of the accord. China's Deputy Permanent Representative Wu Haitao in effect rejected any new sanctions suggested by Haley, saying that Beijing was committed to finding a diplomatic solution.
