Fast forward till the end of 2017, and we have Google Assistant running on numerous Android devices, but only limited to the more current handsets and flagships. This is good news for those with devices running on older Android versions, which can't be updated to newer versions. Assistant fires up when you use the "Google Now" hot word. The Assistant originally launched on a single phone, the Google Pixel, and has slowly been creeping across the Android landscape. A sizeable 26 percent of active Android users are found to continue having Android Lollipop on their devices. Now the Assistant is finally coming to Android tablets too, but only for those with the language set to English.

Talking about the new Google Maps Go app, as per the listing it will be available exclusively for Android phones running Android 4.1 or higher. Google Maps Go gives clients the capacity to see their area, get directions to a place through vehicle, train or transport, or by strolling, and even enables users to add filters to their guide to see satellite imagery, public transport, or an overlay of the present traffic. The Google Assistant on Android 5.0 Lollipop has started to roll out to users with the language set to English in the U.S., UK, India, Australia, Canada and Singapore, as well as in Spanish in the U.S., Mexico and Spain.

But unlike Files Go, which is available to all Android users, isn't yet compatible with the devices running other versions of Android. It is also being rolled out to users in Italy, Japan, Germany, Brazil and Korea. Once the update is installed, you'll be able to fire up the AI helper by saying "OK, Google", long-pressing your home button, or by tapping the Assistant icon that's added to your "all apps" list. It offers features that are similar to the standard version of the Maps application, but take up less space during installation and less resources while running on these entry-level smartphones.
