LaVar Ball: Lakers 'don't want to play for' Luke Walton

Less than a month ago, the Los Angeles Lakers approached LaVar Ball and kindly asked him to tone down his criticism of Luke Walton, because it was becoming a major distraction that the young team didn't need.

Lakers executives met with LaVar Ball on November 29 to ask him to tone down comments he had made questioning Walton's rotations and overall usage of his son, the No. 2 pick in June's draft. The noted sports dad spoke with ESPN's Jeff Goodman while overseas in Lithuania about the Los Angeles Lakers' head coach and made a rather damning allegation regarding Walton's ability to exert control over his own team.

Ball did little to put out the fire heating up Walton's seat by refusing to outwardly endorse his coach with his father's comments freshly floating about and with the Lakers on a nine-game losing streak and struggling to compete on a nightly basis.

So when Walton was asked Friday morning if he wonders whether his job is in danger, his answer was simple. "He's our head coach. We [ownership, front office] talk all the time, and there're 100 percent behind in supporting what we're doing here".

"Nobody wants to play for him", Ball added.

Andy Murray to take more breaks in 2018
I don't mind if it's 30 in the world level. "I would love to be number one in the world, but I just want to play". Murray is due to compete in Melbourne in less than a fortnight's time, with the Slam kicking off on January 15.

Road conditions deteriorating… intense cold, wind chills this weekend
While many states up north are freezing, Florida has a few days to spare before feeling the frosty breath of this cold front. Windchill values are going to drop to -12 to -20 degrees across Kansas when the clock strikes 12 to start 2018.

When she was first arrested, the damage was estimated at $300,000, but later a report has that number at about $1.5 million. The punishment for a felony criminal mischief conviction in Texas depends on the amount of damage the defendant caused.

"That's how we're going to win games", Ball said. I don't think [Walton has lost the locker room].

"I'm fine with it".

Lonzo Ball said he just focuses on playing basketball and that he has told Walton before that his father's comments don't affect him.

Unfortunately for Luke Walton, he has to hear about it from the father of the Lakers' top draft pick.

Walton said that he pulled Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (zero points in 20 minutes) early on because of an uncharacteristically poor attention to defense. "I've said all along, 'there're always parents and parents are going to get mad at things. You can look at every player, he's not connecting with not one player". "Whatever those meetings [with LaVar Ball in the past] are, I'm not concerned with those". "I think the players are playing very hard, we've been through a hard stretch, but they are giving us what they have and we're going to keep working and we'll be fine".
