The deputy was shot while chasing the suspects after a home burglary near Tacoma.

The deputy arrived on scene and became involved in a foot pursuit with a male suspect, during which shots were fired and the deputy was struck. Police are actively looking for another man who ran from the scene and is believed to be armed and risky.

A manhunt is underway, and a large containment area has been set up near the scene of the shooting to locate the other suspect. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and a black beanie.

34-year-old Daniel McCartney was shot when responding to a burglary in Frederickson, Washington around 11:30 p.m. Sunday night.
