British Airways contested Ryan's version of the events, saying it had denied him a boarding pass for his "rude" behaviour.

He then said he was arrested and maced.

"I asked POLITELY if I could wear all the clothes in my case and still board", Williams wrote on Twitter. "Refused from two flights in two days for no valid reason". Annoyed at British Airways staff refusing to allow him to board with an extra IKEA bag filled with clothes, Mr Williams wore the excess clothing as he couldn't afford the £90 surcharge.

He was freed after giving a statement to police. The decision to deny him boarding "was absolutely not based on race", the airline representative said.

Williams tweeted: "Being held at Iceland Keflavik airport because I had no baggage put all the clothes on and they still won't let me on.~Racial profiling? Or".

Sadly for Mr Hawaii the ordeal did not end there after he was turned away from a second flight with EasyJet the following day.

They told Metro: "We give our customers a wide range of fares to choose from to meet their needs". The airline also refused to provide the refund to Hawaii citing terms and conditions. "Our hand baggage only fares from Iceland are as low as £47 each way, and are designed for customers who are traveling without any hold baggage".

"The Captain and the ground crew were concerned about reports from the previous day so we provided a refund and he travelled with another airline", Easyjet said.

Speaking to Storyful, a British Airways representative said that they explained their rules to him and offered to put him on a different flight to London.

In the tweets, Ryan, who claims to be an artist/designer, explains that he arrived at the airport in Iceland with no luggage on his booking.
