Nicole Eggert files police report accusing Scott Baio of sexual abuse

Actress Nicole Eggert met with Los Angeles Police detectives to discuss allegations of sexual abuse by her former Charles in Charge co-star, Scott Baio, her attorney confirmed.

We've learned detectives from LAPD's Sexual Assault Section interviewed Eggert Tuesday morning at the offices of her attorney, Lisa Bloom.

The "Charles in Charge" actress, who claims that Baio sexually assaulted her between the ages of 14 and 17, told Entertainment Tonight that she contemplated suicide when she was 15.

There has been no official reply from Baio yet, but previously, his rep had told TMZ: "We've been demanding since past year that Nicole Eggert bring her story to the authorities". During the interview, actor Alexander Polinsky (who played Adam Powell on the sitcom), was with Eggert and said he witnessed some of the abuse. Many have reached out to Nicole and me to say that they witnessed inappropriate behaviour from Scott Baio when Nicole was underage.

Eggert's longtime manager David Weintraub also says that his client is "feeling positive" after her conversation with detectives, and that "people are standing by her". "And I told her what happened to me - not in grave detail - but that it happened to me and I want her to know that. if anybody even attempts anything like that, she knows that I will go to battle for her". She also said she had always been reluctant to speak up about what she claims really happened between her and Baio because she was ashamed and embarrassed. We provided a list of those names to the police.

Eggert now says the hardest part going public with her allegations is telling her daughters, 19-year-old Dilyn and 6-year-old Keegan. Since the alleged abuse happened from 1986-1990, TMZ said it's possible the statue of limitations has run out.

"It started with shaming - fat shaming me all the time", she claims. Baio swiftly denied her claims, posting a 16-minute Facebook Live video where he claimed that they first had sex when she was at least 18.

The actress first came forward with the accusations against her "Charles in Charge" co-star on January 28. However, for crimes that date years before that, "prosecution for the crimes of rape, sodomy, lewd or lascivious acts, continuous sexual abuse of a child, oral copulation, and sexual penetration, if committed against a victim who was under 18 years of age, may be commenced at any time prior to the victim's 40th birthday".

"My reputation is being damaged, my family is being put through this, and I'm done", Baio added.

Baio believes Eggert meeting with cops is his ticket to vindication due to her changing the facts around her story multiple times. She's never had to defend what she's saying so much.

Neither Baio nor his reps have returned calls for comment.
