Trump to continue call for arming some teachers in CPAC speech

US President Donald Trump in a speech to Conservative activists on Friday implored them to get off their "a**" and "clobber" Democrats in upcoming elections, so that they do not try to repeal the Second Amendment, undo recent tax cuts, and install liberal judges. Departing the White House for CPAC, Trump told reporters that "when it came time to get in there and do something", Florida deputy Scot Peterson "didn't have the courage or something happened".

Many agreed with the idea, but not everyone is a fan of some of President Trump's proposals.

"This would be a major deterrent because these people are inherently cowards", Trump said of perpetrators of school shootings.

"A teacher would have shot the hell out of him", Trump said, referring to the Florida gunman.

"I'm thrilled to be back at CPAC with so many of my wonderful friends, and awesome supporters and proud conservators", Trump told the crowd before apparently catching a glimpse of himself on a video board.

At one point, Trump polled the crowd on what they'd prefer he focus on more: tax cuts or the Second Amendment.

Mr Trump's bald spot was exposed by the wind on February 2 as he walked up a staircase into Air Force One, the presidential plane, in a video shared widely online. His speech at CPAC previous year was a blistering and dark diatribe that cemented the notion that Trump would not adhere to presidential norms.

Trump said Democrats, who he called "crazed", are no longer interested in talking about the Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals immigration program.

Trump also mentioned his administration's massive tax reform package.

"Remember when I first started running - I started running and people said are you sure he's a conservative".

"Immigration", Trump said, before jumping into the story. "Well-trained gun-adept teachers and coaches should be able to carry concealed firearms".

"I'm gonna leave it at the Second Amendment, I don't want to get into that battle", Trump said.

Trump appeared in his element before a friendly crowd, taking the stage with a beaming smile and repeatedly cutting away from his scripted remarks to offer jokes or to muse about the trials of his presidency.

In a rollicking 75-minute address to the premier annual gathering of grassroots conservatives, Trump smashed his enemies, joked about his hair, defended his controversial new gun proposals, and warned conservatives against electoral complacency. "For the a year ago, with your help, we have put more great conservative ideas into use than perhaps ever before in American history".

There have been some reports recently stating that the assertion that the hair is real adds to Trump's self-recognition, allegedly allowing him to thus create an image of a man more capable of delivering on promises he made to America. "We don't want them in our schools", he said.
