US Secretary of State calls off Kenya events over illness

United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has been forced to cancel today's activities in Kenya because he might be feeling unwell.

"The secretary is not feeling well after a long couple days working on major issues back home such as North Korea and has canceled his events for the day", spokesman Steve Goldstein said. "President Trump has said for some time that he was open to talks and he would willingly meet with Kim Jong Un when conditions were right and the time was right".

After jetting into the country on Friday, Tillerson met President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi where he assured of his Government's commitment to Kenya on trade and security.

Tillerson had started his day Friday in Ethiopia with the North Korea announcement and flew to Djibouti for a brief visit before continuing on to Nairobi. While the nature of the illness was not disclosed, it was understood not to be serious, the BBC reported.

Some of the events planned for Saturday in the capital of Nairobi will go on without him, but others may be rescheduled for later in the trip.
