Walmart to Bring Online Grocery Delivery to 100 Cities

Just over a month after the online retailer announced its Prime Now delivery service will begin delivering Whole Foods groceries, Walmart has announced it'll expand its online grocery delivery service to over 100 metro areas this year.

Walmart, America's largest grocery, will deliver supermarket items to 40% of the nation's homes by the end of the year.

Walmart will use its own employees and crowd-sourced delivery services to shop for and deliver groceries. Walmart already employs 18,000 personal shoppers and plans to hire more to support the expansion of this program.

If placed by 1 p.m., orders will be ready within three to four hours, according to USA Today. Walmart plans to use about 800 stores to operate the service.

A big battle is brewing over the delivery of milk, fruit and cheese, and how Americans will spend their hard-earned dollars on groceries.

Tampas Walmart delivery began as a soft launch about a year ago in five stores.
