France condemns Donald Trump's comments on 2015 terror attacks

Trump, on Friday, told a gathering at the National Rifle Association (NRA) which advocates for gun rights, that if civilians had been armed, it would have been a different outcome to the 2015 series of explosions and shootings that left 130 people dead.

France's foreign ministry and some former top officials have condemned the US President for claiming that the Bataclan carnage and other 2015 terrorist attacks could have been avoided if the country had looser gun ownership laws.

"They took their time and gunned them down one by one - boom, come over here, boom, come over here, boom", he said.

"The shameful comments and obscene antics of Donald Trump say a lot about what he thinks about France and her values", Hollande said in a statement, as reported by France24. Boom. Come over here.

Valls simply said of Trump's remarks: "Indecent and incompetent".

The President also adressed the issue of Chicago, "but Chicago has the toughest gun laws in our country; they're so tough but we know what's happening" he continued, refering to violent gang crime.

Knife crime in Britain rose by 21 per cent last year, according to figures released in September by the Office for National Statistics, which compiles an authoritative survey of crime in England and Wales, and stabbings in London were at their highest level in six years.

France's authorities aggressively defended its gun controllers along with pressure mounted on President Emmanuel Macron to demand an apology out of Trump despite their friendly romance.

Trump is due to visit the United Kingdom on July 13, after previously cancelling a trip amid calls for mass protests on the streets of Britain.

The US president also told the crowd in Dallas that a "once very prestigious hospital" in London was like a "war zone" because of knife crime.

Trump's comment on the Paris attacks did not go down well with the French. The attackers killed 130 people, and over 400 were injured.

Professor Karim Brohi, a trauma surgeon at the Royal London Hospital, said a suggestion that guns could be part of the solution to tackle violence is "ridiculous".

The surgeon who made the "war zone" remark, Dr. Martin Griffiths or Royal London Hospital, didn't endorse Trump's comments, either.

Brohi said that while there is more that can be done to combat knife attacks, gunshot wounds are "at least twice as lethal as knife injuries and more hard to fix".

The US ambassador to Britain, Woody Johnson, said Mr Trump would "definitely" be coming to London, despite the warnings of likely demonstrations.
