Philadelphia 76ers general manager and president of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo may be fired after an NBA investigation concludes, possibly as soon as Friday, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Keith Pompey of Philly.com reports that Colangelo has not been absent for the last two days of the agent-run predraft workouts being held on the West Coast this week. Citing league sources, ESPN stated team ownership is "flushed with embarrassment and anger" and characterized Colangelo's standing as "fighting for his professional life".

Sources said Sixers employees are preparing for a possible dismissal of Colangelo, even if it is revealed that a family member used the "burner" accounts and not him.

The team announced a day later that they would be conducting an investigation into the reports, which is ongoing and yet to reach a verdict.

Joel Embiid, the target of numerous personal attacks from the associated accounts, said he received word directly from Colangelo that he was not behind the keyboard when the messages were sent.

The source added, unless the perpetrator made some mistakes, it would be hard to definitively prove who tweeted out the information. National Basketball Association commissioner Adam Silver addressed the situation during a press conference prior to Game 1 of the Finals.

Wenger: Arteta Has All The Qualities To Become Arsenal Manager
It's a risk, of course, to appoint someone so young, yet Arteta's a manager the club would throw their weight behind. Arteta is keen to take up the role and Man City boss Guardiola has insisted he will not stand in his way.

According to ESPN's league sources, the Sixers also commissioned an outside law firm to investigate the matter, an investigation that has already included Colangelo surrending his cell phones.

"I talked to [Colangelo], and he said that he didn't say that", Embiid told ESPN.

Colangelo has admitted to owning the one account that did not tweet anything. All jokes aside, I don't believe that story.

"You have separate, sort of the chatter, and sort of what either fans or, frankly, the media are saying from the facts".

The discovery of these Disqus comments is the latest turn in an endlessly freaky saga that began Tuesday night when The Ringer presented compelling evidence that five burner Twitter accounts, some of which had tweeted sensitive information, all were linked to Colangelo. "And the first thing we have to do here is determine what the actual facts are in this circumstance".
