Would Bill Clinton Have Apologized To Monica Lewinsky In The #MeToo Era?

"Two-thirds of the American people sided with me", Clinton added of the affair.

Clinton has been under renewed criticism for the affair under the #MeToo movement, which has encouraged women to speak out against sexual harassment and abuse.

In an interview with NBC's Today Show, he said he supported the movement and it was "way overdue" but he still believed he acted correctly.

For years, he had deflected allegations of sexual harassment and assault from several women, but several of his accusers have felt empowered recently as the #MeToo movement gained momentum.

On any parallels between the two presidents, Clinton said: "A lot of the facts have been conveniently omitted to make the story work, I think partly because (Trump's supporters) are frustrated that they got all these serious allegations against the current occupant in the Oval Office".

As for his affair with Lewinksy, Clinton said: "This was litigated 20 years ago". And I bet you don't even know them.

On Twitter, activist Rose McGowan, who helped trigger the #MeToo movement, said she believed Mr Clinton owed everyone an apology, including Ms Lewinsky. I hadn't heard that precise figure, but I know that it was in the millions, that when he left the White House he faced steep legal fees, or at least the party did.

"Did Bill Clinton just #metoo Monica Lewinsky???".

He told graduates that "we have begun the great rebuilding of the USA military". "He is a physical coward, a liar and no leader at all".

BILL Clinton has insisted he doesn't owe Monica Lewinsky a personal apology and claimed he too was a victim during a fiery, "trainwreck" interview that has been slammed by social media users.

The former US president says he "got hot under the collar" during an interview on the "Today" show Monday with correspondent Craig Melvin, who brought up the controversial affair.

Avoiding the Clinton dodge, Melvin pressed, "Well, I asked you if you'd ever apologized and you said you had". And then of course, he starts to talk about, well, the rules have changed, but the facts haven't, which I thought was an interesting response. "I think the- it doesn't mean I agree with everything; I still have some questions about some of the decisions which have been made".

It is noteworthy that McAuliffe, a prolific Democratic fundraiser, turned on Clinton in such a fashion because of his long history with the former president and his wife, 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

The 42nd U.S. president is on a book tour to promote a new thriller, "The President Is Missing", co-written with best-selling author James Patterson.

"I dealt with it 20 years ago plus", Clinton said.

Melvin: "But you didn't apologize to her?" He was the most powerful man on the planet.

"If he wants to go out and campaign in 2018, which he should, do you own up to the fact that Monica Lewinski's life has been ruined, that you still have Juanita Broaddrick suffering what she went through", Scarborough said. "I still have some questions about some of the decisions which have been made".
