A Protestant pastor in Ethiopia was killed Sunday morning after being attacked by a crocodile while baptizing people in a lake, BBC reports. They could not capture the crocodile but they managed to use fishing nets to save the deceased's body.

"He baptized the first person and he passed on to another one", a local resident told the BBC.

Eshete was carrying out a baptism when the crocodile appeared.

The Lonely Planet warns the crocodiles can be aggressive towards people and animals because the lake has few fish.

When the Wabe Shebelle river in south-east Ethiopia flooded in 2006, government boats came under attack, hindering relief and rescue efforts, Reuters reported.
