Red Bull claimed a shock win at its home race in Austria, with Max Verstappen capitalising on Mercedes' misfortune and a Sebastian Vettel grid penalty for his first victory of the year.

Red Bull may not have had the quickest vehicle at the Red Bull Ring, but they finally clinched victory on home soil.

"I was trying to hunt both [Raikkonen and Verstappen] down", he said.

Red Bull turned down Max Verstappen's Renault Formula 1 engine during the Austrian Grand Prix as it feared the race victor may suffer a repeat of Daniel Ricciardo's retirement. In full force to fight for the pole moved "Mercedes", "Ferrari", "Red bull", "Haas" and "Renault".

Meanwhile, teammate Daniel Ricciardo had to pit from second place when his left rear tyre blistered in the middle of the race.

"Shortly after that we began to see an exhaust crack that was causing gearbox damage, forcing his retirement".

"We made the right call when virtual safety auto came out and we pitted. So, yeah, incredible that they all came over here", he said.

Joe Jackson, the Jackson Family Patriarch, Dead at 89
Joe's reported death comes just two days after the anniversary of Michael Jackson's death, who passed away on 25 June 2009. But Jackson hinted at his impending death in a tweet Monday: "I have seen more sunsets than I have left to see.

"I was going in front in Paul Ricard, he was going in front the race before that".

And as for seeing four years of Red Bull disappointment at the Red Bull Ring, Horner certainly enjoyed the chance to celebrate a victory at the company's home track. "We are all delighted for him".

Verstappen led Raikkonen by more than six seconds but with everyone behind the Dutchman seemingly anxious to protect tyres, he was unchallenged.

'Hats off to him because the tyres were so crucial there, you see the blisters and everything that's going on, he just managed to keep those temperatures down and manage it all the way through, ' said Horner. "The last few laps I could look a little bit to my left and they were really cheering me on, it was incredible". It was one that looked a distant possibility following Red Bull's dire qualifying.

"The vehicle came very good, but we just ran out of laps", said Raikkonen, reflecting on his victory chase. "I've got no time left in the tyres", said Hamilton, aware that a straightforward race win was in peril. "We had three runs and I was just punching a hole for everyone and I think if you've got one run each, fair enough but I'm not that happy that's all".

Despite Ricciardo's unhappiness, Verstappen did not think the situation between them would be too hard. If there's anybody who has a question, obviously ask but I don't find great motivation in telling people where I go, what I do. In the second attempt, Bottas added and kept the first position.
