White House slams Omarosa over her book

The former Trump administration staffer and "The Apprentice" contestant told NPR that she had heard the tape directly, calling it a major factor that changed her opinion of the president, despite the fact that her own memoir says she was only told of the recording.

She alleges that, during the making of United States version of The Apprentice, which Trump fronted for several years, the future president muttered the racial slur "multiple times". She also spoke out about a potential tell-all book and what she really thinks of Trump's tweeting. She acknowledges she has not heard the tape herself. In her book Unhinged, Omarosa asserts that a tape exists to prove it, according to the Guardian, which first reported the detail. "The allegation is not credible, and indeed is ridiculous, particularly in light of the timing of her departure from the White House-December 12, 2017". She says she declined the offer. Based on previews of the book, it sounds like she mainly enforces things the public already knew about Trump, like his racism.

Newman claims she was sacked after coming close to get her hands on the tape said to contain the racist slurs, which Apprentice producers have refused to release for contractual reasons.

Manigault Newman also writes in her book that Trump campaign adviser and daughter-in-law Lara Trump offered her a $15,000-a-month hush-money contract after she was sacked by the White House, the Washington Post reported.

Omarosa also writes in the book that she witnessed Trump making other racist remarks firsthand. "F**ing FLIP! Disloyal! Fucking Goo-goo". Politico explains the significance of the date: It wasn't widely well-known at that point that Conway sometimes criticized the president on Twitter; stories on it didn't widely emerge until after Omarosa left.

Manigault Newman's tenure in the White House was marred by drama and intrigue; she generated a series of negative headlines for the administration, including when she attempted to host a photo shoot for her wedding on White House grounds. The two remain in contact, according to people familiar with the relationship. "It must have been something very, very sensitive", she writes in her book.

"I saw him put a note in his mouth".
