Despite being panned by critics, John Abraham's Satyameva Jayate continues to hold its ground at the box office. However, Gold managed to surpass the collection of Satyameva Jayate and now stands at Rs 55 crore. However, the film witnessed a big dip on the second day and made only Rs 7.92 crore.

Gold saw a massive opening, hoarding Rs 25.25 crore on the initial day. Set at the backdrop of India winning its first gold medal in hockey as a free nation in the 1948 Summer Olympics, the film promises to be yet another big one from Akki.

John Abraham starrer Satyameva Jayate clashed with Akshay Kumar and Mouni Roy starrer Gold at the box office and both the movies had a great opening on Independence Day. It earned Rs 9.03 crore yesterday, bringing its total collection to Rs 46.65 crore.
