Nintendo Switch Online launches September 18 with one-week free trial

Switch Online is the Nintendo's unimaginatively-named subscription-based online service. It sounds like starting September 18th users will be unable to unlink a Nintendo Account from a Switch User Profile. Some of the games that will be available at launch include Dr. Mario, Super Mario Bros.

"Depending on the game, players can engage in online competitive or co-op multiplayer, or take turns controlling the action", Nintendo said earlier this year.

Nintendo Switch Online will remain free to non-scubscribers up until the paid service launches and a deeper dive into the service will happen during the upcoming Nintendo Direct on September 13, 2018.

Nintendo's also teasing "20 NES games with added online play for the first time ever" as soon as the service debuts, but so far hasn't indicated which titles we'll be getting first.

The service will cost $3.99/€3.99 for one month, $7.99/€7.99 for three months, and $19.99/€19.99 for a full year.

The individual and family plan prices are confirmed along with some additional details on how this new subscription will work for users. Previously, playing online was free, but once Switch Online debuts, everyone will need to pay to play online.
