It turns out the house the child was left as was next door to the father's residence, which bolsters the woman's claim she got the address confused. The suspect can be seen in the video, released by police, holding the child in the air by one arm before ringing the doorbell and knocking on the door, before returning to the vehicle which drove off.

Sheriff's officials said the woman is likely in her 20s or 30s, had long hair reaching below her waist and multiple tattoos on her right arm. The entire interaction lasts only 23 seconds.

During a press conference Thursday, Lt. Scott Spencer with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said the homeowner who discovered the boy immediately called law enforcement.

The mom had reportedly asked the friend to drop off the child at his father's house, but she went to the wrong address. Spencer said he is safe, healthy and in good spirits.

Surveillance footage from a doorbell security camera captured the moment a toddler was left abandoned outside a stranger's home in the middle of the night in a suburb of Houston, Texas, Oct. 17, 2018.

The child has been placed with a foster family as officials determine who to release him to.
