If you parse the data you will find that these 10 million tweets came from 4,611 accounts, of which 3,841 are linked to Russia's Internet Research Agency.

The company said they were releasing "substantially more information" about the foreign interference operations "to enable independent academic research and investigation". But researchers said the campaign had proven less pervasive and effective than the coordinated disinformation operation carried out by Russian Federation, which focused its efforts instead on exacerbating social and political tensions in the United States during the 2016 election.

Twitter has already disclosed the account numbers, but is now releasing the actual tweets, images, video and other information.

Experts say the tweet archive shows that both the Iranian and Russian operations started out as campaigns to support their governments at home.

Twitter has taken increasing steps to generate public goodwill over its perceived connection to Russian attempts to sway the 2016 election and its role in the spread of fake news.

Twitter said it will "continue to proactively combat nefarious attempts" to undermine the integrity of its network. In January, the company said that it had notified around 1.4 million people that they had directly engaged with Russia-linked accounts during the 2016 presidential election or had actively followed those accounts at the time they were suspended.

Russian Federation and Iran have both denied accusations that they attempted to influence U.S. voters on social media or through other means.
