The woman, who says she suffered injuries in the alleged september 30 incident, was interviewed by the National Rugby League's integrity unit before the matter was referred to police.

"The accused must not assault, molest, harass, threaten or otherwise interfere with the victim", court documents show.

Hayne was given conditional bail and is due to appear at Burwood Local Court on December 10.

Hayne was placed in police custody on Monday afternoon before being granted bail at 2am on Tuesday morning.

An investigation into the incident was launched after the woman was interviewed by the NRL Integrity Unit, and the matter was passed on to police.

Back in 2016, Jarryd Hayne made a decision to retire from the National Football League to pursue his Olympic dream and return to his his original sport on a permanent basis. Following an interview with detectives the football star was charged with one charge of aggravated sexual assault.

Earlier, Hayne emerged from an undisclosed location to attend the Ryde police station, five days after news broke he was being investigated over claims he sexually assaulted a 26-year-old woman on grand final night.

It was reported Hayne declined to be formally interviewed.

In that case, San Jose (Calif.) police investigated an allegation in December 2015 that Hayne had raped a woman he knew through mutual acquaintances.

He was placed under arrest and charged with a single count of "aggravated sexual assault - cause actually bodily harm to victim", an offence which carries a maximum of 20 years jail.

The 30-year-old spent this NRL season with the Parramatta Eels, the team he left to join the NFL.

Hayne is also now fighting a civil case in the USA, accused of raping a woman in December 2015, while playing National Football League with the San Francisco 49ers.

Hayne's representative Wayne Beavis opted not to comment when contacted by AAP after the allegations arose.

He is one of the biggest and now most controversial figures in rugby league over the past decade.
