Trump appears to snub high-fiving Putin and Saudi prince at G20

US President Donald Trump "exchanged pleasantries" with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the G20 summit, a White House official says.

Donald Trump, who has staunchly defended the prince amid a global backlash over last month's brutal killing in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul of critic and columnist Jamal Khashoggi, was not one of them.

Canada, France, the U.S. and Germany have imposed targeted sanctions related to the murder of the prominent Saudi journalist.

It's unclear what the two were discussing in the clip.

"No, I will listen, of course", bin Salman replies, prior to bursting into laughter.

Khashoggi's killing has sparked widespread outrage but Western powers have pledged to maintain close relations with Saudi Arabia, a top oil producer and buyer of USA weapons.

The Crown Prince told Modi he would soon be finalizing an initial investment in India's National Investment and Infrastructure Fund, a quasi-sovereign wealth fund, to help accelerate the building of ports, highways and other projects.

The Crown Prince, Saudi Arabia's de facto ruler, has denied any involvement in the murder, but United States intelligence officials believe he directed the operation. "You never listen to me".

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Putin clasped each other's hands and smiled widely as they greeted each other Friday.

White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders insists the reason for the cancellation was the situation with Ukraine, but said the probe into possible collusion between the Trump presidential campaign and Russian Federation was damaging ties between the two countries.

In a 5-min exchange on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Argentina, Macron conveyed "very firm" messages to the prince over the murder of Khashoggi and on the need to find a political solution for the situation in Yemen, the official added.

In the video, the French President can clearly be heard saying "I am worried" after the Crown Prince tells him not to be concerned.

Mr. Trump canceled his previously scheduled meeting with Putin on Thursday after he was briefed on the incident.

Missing the summit's opening and traditional G20 "family photo" of heads of state and government on Friday was German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who was delayed by more than 12 hours due to technical problem on her plane.
