Former President George H.W. Bush died Friday evening at the age of 94. Bush 41 and 43 joined John and John Quincy Adams as the only father-son combinations to serve as President.

Many world leaders mourned his passing away, paying rich tributes to the The World War II hero.

Though more moderate than his son, President George W. Bush, the elder Bush had a mixed record on LGBTQ rights. Then he was appointed to a series of high-level positions: Ambassador to the United Nations, Chairman of the Republican National Committee, Chief of the US Liaison Office in the People's Republic of China, and Director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

The Trumps added, "Along with his full life of service to country, we will remember former President Bush for his devotion to family - especially the love of his life, Barbara".

George Herbert Walker Bush was sworn into a world he called "rich with promise".

"As president, he set the stage for the decades of prosperity that have followed".

Democratic political strategist Donna Brazile tweeted: "President George H.W. Bush was the real deal". We happened to work together in years of great changes. While nothing can replace the loss of a father, we can rejoice in the fact that his was a meaningful life, dedicated to public service. Eight years later, Bush was swept into the oval office for a virtual third term of one of the most consequential presidencies in modern times.

And former President Bill Clinton, who defeated the incumbent Bush in 1992, recalled the friendship the two former rivals developed, as well as Bush's "innate and genuine decency".

He then graduated from Yale University, and launched a brief career in the oil industry.

He also worked with ex-presidents Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Barack Obama and son George to raise money for hurricane victims in Texas in 2017.

The elder Bush saw his popularity swell with the United States' success in the Gulf War in 1991, only to watch it evaporate in a brief but deep recession.

"My grandfather was the greatest man I ever knew", Mr Bush said. He was a very good man, a great President & a warm hearted, generous American patriot who was a strong ally & friend of the UK. The president's casket will lie in state from Monday night until Wednesday morning in the centre of the U.S. Capitol rotunda.
