Hours after she was sworn in to Congress, Michigan Democratic Rep.

Pelosi said in an interview on NBC's "Today" Thursday that politics will not play a role in whether Democrats decide to impeach the president.

President Donald Trump says newly elected Rep. Rashida Tlaib of MI "dishonored herself" when she used profanity to describe him.

"She's a freshman. It's her first day here", Connelly said of Tlaib.

Trump was asked if he would comment on the threat of impeachment and the profanity.

Rep. Nanci Pelosi (D-Calif.), who was re-elected as the speaker of the House on January 3, told reporters that she is not ruling out impeaching Trump.

Tlaib was elected as Michigan's representative from the 13th Congressional District.

On Friday morning, Trump reacted to the talk of impeachment by questioning why House Democrats would do such a thing. "I CAN'T HOLD THEM OFF MUCH LONGER ... unless you agree to end this shutdown, in which case maybe that'll soothe them for awhile".

However, Tlaib's comment has elucidated a subtle but potentially consequential divide between more progressive factions of the Democrat party and the traditional stalwarts who have generally tried to avoid even using the "i" word.

Another pro-Republican account claimed Tlaib's comments actually help Republicans, not Democrats.

Relaying a conversation she had with her son, she said to cheers: 'When your son looks at you and says, "Momma, look you won, bullies don't win", and I said, "Baby they don't", because we're gonna go in and impeach the motherf--'.

Sanders also said that it would be hard to impeach Trump given his success during his first two years in office.

Tlaib also explained the significance of what the Thobe means to her, especially having a mother who would hand-stitch them. "We just have to see how it comes". As soon as the 116th Congress was in session, Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) re-introduced a resolution to impeach the president that he and two other Democratic lawmakers first brought to the House in 2017.

Salty language by United States lawmakers - or presidents, for that matter - is nothing new.

"As a kid, I acted as my grandfather's translator at our caucuses, and he was the one who first sparked my interest in politics", Omar said on Twitter.
