Cory Booker speaks to press in Newark after announcing presidential bid

Cory Booker is joining the race for the White House in 2020.

Amid speculation of Booker's presidential aspirations, the New Jersey senator revealed in December 2018 he would make a decision on whether or not to launch a 2020 presidential run over the holiday season.

Booker enters what's shaping up to be a crowded presidential primary, with three of his fellow Democratic senators - Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Kamala Harris of California and Kirsten Gillibrand of NY - already either declared or exploring a run.

Mr Booker released classified documents relating to President Trump's Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh a year ago and vehemently opposed his nomination, stating that supporters were "complicit in evil".

Booker's video announcement released Friday is classic Booker: brimming with hope, compassion, optimism.

Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey said Friday that he will seek the Democratic nomination for president, adding his name to a growing and increasingly diversified field of 2020 candidates intent on taking on President Trump.

Born in the capital Washington on April 27, 1969, Booker grew up in an affluent suburb of Newark, where he was a standout high school football player.

In turn, Mr Booker has said he "loves" Mr Trump as part of his Christian faith and that his party should not make opposition to the president the centrepiece of its message.

Views of Netflix content are only counted if an account watches 70 percent of a show or movie, according to the company. According to Bloomberg data, the average price target for Netflix now stands at $396, up from $384 on Thursday.

Mr Booker has called for reform of the criminal justice system, affordable healthcare and the legalisation of marijuana. Cory Booker to the mix now. He has $4.1 million left in his campaign coffers that could also be used to assist his presidential run.

Booker replied that it doesn't matter if he looks authentic, because the policy changes he made were authentic. "What is your objection to Kamala Harris running, Elizabeth Warren, Kirsten Gillibrand, these others who have already announced, Tulsi Gabbard maybe?"

He was elected to Congress in 2013 by a significant margin, and became the second black member of the Senate at the time.

Hillary Clinton's battle with Bernie Sanders in the 2016 Democratic primary - and her eventual loss to Trump in the election - triggered an ongoing debate within the party about the best path forward, pitting moderates against progressives and younger politicians against the old guard.

In addition to questions over style there are, perhaps more seriously, others over substance, specifically Mr Booker's ties to Wall Street and the pharmaceutical industry.

"I believe in this particular moment that awe then this authenticity is the most valuable political currency anyone can have, and you have gotten some criticism for grandstanding during your performance, during televised hearings".

"Every candidate should run on their authentic self, tell their truth, and more importantly, or most importantly, talk about their vision for the country", he said.
