Elizabeth Warren Officially Announces 2020 Presidential Run

Warren's announcement makes her the eighth Democrat officially running for president, joining the likes of Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey, former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julián Castro, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, Senator Kamala Harris of California, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of NY, former Congressman John Delaney of Maryland, Spiritual author Marianne Williamson of Texas and businessman Andrew Yang of NY. On Saturday, she officially threw her hat into the ring during a a rally in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Warren was introduced on Saturday by Representative Joe Kennedy III, grandson of former U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy and part of the new generation of the most prominent Democratic family in MA and arguably the U.S.

Warren told the crowd on Saturday, "It won't be enough to just undo the bad acts of this administration".

After Lawrence, Warren is set to travel north to campaign in New Hampshire before flying to Iowa for a three-stop tour across the state on Sunday - her second visit to the Hawkeye State since announcing the formation of an exploratory campaign on New Year's Eve.

"When I talk about this, some rich guys scream 'class warfare!' Well, let me tell you something, these same rich guys have been waging class warfare against hard-working people for decades - I say it's time to fight back." she said.

I think Warren would make a great president - she is a real fighter for the working people of our nation.

Warren said, "We are here to take on a fight that will shape our lives, our children's lives, and our grandchildren's lives, just as surely as the fight that began in these streets more than a century ago". After first winning election to the United States senate in 2012, Warren became one of the body's most outspoken critics of outlaw financial practices and white-collar impunity.

More recently, the liberal lawmaker also apologized for claiming to descend from Native American heritage.

How much effect the negative headlines will have on her in a crowded field will likely depend on how, or whether, Warren can put the controversy behind her.

What issues will Warren's campaign focus on?

"It's about dealing with extreme concentrations of wealth", said Stephanie Kelton, a professor at Stony Brook University in NY and former senior economic adviser to the campaign of Senator Bernie Sanders, the Vermont independent who's considering another run for the Democratic nomination. "Nobody", she said in a 2011 viral video explaining the importance of taxation. "This go-around, Warren needs to deal with the issue now, rather than in October 2020".

Warren has been a frontrunner among democrats in the presidential running for months now.

Those claims led her to be criticised by the current president, Donald Trump, who has referred to her as "Pocahontas". "That's a fundamental promise of America", she said. But I want to be clear. "I was a Republican because I thought that those were the people who best supported markets", she said. Kamala Harris and Cory Booker already in the race, and others, like Sens.
