Bills bail on Antonio Brown trade talks, per report

NFL Media's Ian Rapoport late Thursday night reported the Bills and Steelers were close on a deal, but they were still working out compensation.

Brown quickly called the report "fake news" via a comment on Instagram. Breer also reports that there are "very few options left" for the Steelers to trade Brown. "The Steelers now must find another suitor".

Barring a last-second change, the Packers won't be working with the Steelers to complete a trade for Brown.

One receiver isn't going to be enough to turn things around for Buffalo so they should be looking for low-priced but high potential options like Tyrell Williams, Adam Humphries, Devin Funchess, and John Brown in free agency.

On Friday's "Off the Bench" podcast, Danny Kanell talks about the freakish night that was and shares his thoughts on Brown being picky. Brown had apparently torpedoed the trade, due to a disinterest in playing for Buffalo.

Bills reporter Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News tweeted Thursday, per an National Football League source, that while the team had "inquired" about Brown, another source described a deal with the Steelers as "unlikely".

In the middle of the night, Antonio Brown was almost traded to the Bills until he wasn't. Other players who could step up in Brown's absence include wide receiver James Washington and tight end Vance McDonald, and the team could look for more help in the draft and free agency. It is likely Brown will want a restructured contract from any team that acquires him. Seems all those people who joked about Brown going to the Bills were on to something.
