DeChambeau revealed earlier this week that he had never made a hole-in-one in his career, but that changed moments before the final group of Francesco Molinari, Tiger Woods and Tony Finau teed off.

Woods, who counts four Masters green jackets among his 14 major titles, thrilled the massive galleries following him through the towering Georgia pines when he joined the leading group on three-under with back-to-back birdies at 13 and 14.

This is the first time Woods has ever come from behind on the final day to win a major championship, leaving him three behind Jack Nicklaus' record of 18 major titles. The club already moved up the tournament's start time for Sunday's play to begin at 7:30 a.m. ET. Woods was only one stroke behind, tying for 20th.

After Molinari and Woods made birdie on the par-5 eighth hole, Molinari sits at 13-under-par and Woods at 12 under.

Scott's 69-68 marked the first time he's broken 70 in his first two rounds at the Masters. Former UCLA star Patrick Cantlay also shot 64 and was tied for 14th.

"Tiger! Tiger" echoing as loud as any of the roars on the back nine at Augusta National.

"I feel like I played my own way back into the tournament", Woods said.

Woods parlayed his 54-hole lead into victory in 2005, but he has not since added to his collection of four Green Jackets, despite coming close several times in the ensuing decade-plus. The wind has picked up at Augusta National over the last few hours with potential thunderstorms bearing down on the course.

Mickelson and Kuchar both sit at minus-four, three shots behind the leaders at minus-seven and the pair is slated to tee off at 10:45 p.m.

Even United States President Donald Trump, who has golfed with Woods at his Mar-a-Lago resort, said on Twitter he was looking forward to Sunday's final round.

"There's a lot of guys playing great", Molinari said. It's a strategy that wouldn't work for many players because it puts too much pressure on a part of the game that has been all but forgotten in the driver-wedge power game favoured on tour nowadays.

Woods, who entered the week an incredible 156 under on the par 5s for his career (he's a cumulative 68 over on the other holes), has had to spread his efforts around.

Scott birdied the first hole on Saturday to take the outright lead but a series of short missed putts cruelled his hopes, including three-putt bogeys at the par-4 fifth and 18th.

"I don't need to go after every single flag".

"It will be nice not having to wait all day, not having to wait six hours from when I'm up, so you can just get out there and go play", he said.

He saved par superbly from a greenside bunker on the 18th, just when it looked like he might give a shot back.
