House subpoenas full Mueller report

President Donald Trump says some statements made in special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation report are "fabricated & totally untrue".

While there are a few exceptions, Mueller's investigation repeatedly supports news reporting that was done on the Russian Federation probe over the last two years and details several instances where the president and his team sought to mislead the public. A prominent Washington attorney, he joined Trump's campaign as counsel in 2015 and followed him to the White House, but the two men never developed a close rapport. But from Air Force One, he tweeted: "I had the right to end the whole Witch Hunt if I wanted".

It is abundantly clear that Mueller looked, and looked hard, for the "corrupt intent" that would justify a finding of criminality. I chose not to.

Good Morning, It's Mueller report hangover day.

Game over, as Donald Trump declared on Twitter.

Nearly immediately after Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Mueller in May 2017-after Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused from Russia-related investigations, a necessary move given his campaign involvements but one the president never forgave-Trump wanted to dismiss him. "There will be great political pressure on House Democrats to avoid doing so - after all, it is time to focus on the election - but it would be a mistake to allow the activities outlined in this report to be normalized and to see accountability fall by the wayside".

"Even with its color-coded redactions, the Mueller Report offers a damning narrative of President Trump's actions and Russia's attempts to interfere in the 2016 election to get him elected".

Commenting on the report, journalist Glenn Greenwald noted, "The result of all of that was that not a single American-whether with the Trump campaign or otherwise-was charged or indicted on the core question of whether there was any conspiracy or coordination with Russian Federation over the election".

But with Democratic candidates - and at least one other Republican - lining up to challenge President Donald Trump, how many voters will read the entire report's 448 pages and 2,375 footnotes?

The president criticised Mr Sessions both privately and publicly, and called upon him to regain control of the investigation.

The report showed that the Special Counsel did not establish evidence of a criminal conspiracy by the Trump campaign to collude with Russian Federation, and that there was no determination made on the whether President Trump obstructed justice.

Attorney General William Barr could have buried Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation report deep in the recesses of the U.S. Justice Department and simply told the public that President Donald Trump would not face criminal prosecution.

Democratic Rep. Jerry Nadler of NY is asking for the information by May 1.

"This is politically convenient", Collins said, allowing the chairman "to grandstand and rail against the attorney general for not co-operating on an impossible timeline". Among the selections played: "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". He considered issuing a subpoena to force the president to appear in person but decided against it after weighing the likelihood of a long legal battle.

When McGahn became White House counsel, he was known as a sharp-elbowed political lawyer who had previously been chairman of the Federal Election Commission. "Only reason Mueller did not was because of the flawed DOJ restriction against indicting a sitting President".

"The Special Counsel made clear that he did not exonerate the President", Nadler said.

Mueller's team hewed to department guidelines.

Romney's statement began in a more positive tone, before criticizing Trump.

The battle over access could stretch into the heart of the 2020 presidential campaign. When the Times first reported the story, Trump described it as "fake news, folks, fake news". "Did I say the word "fire"?" the president asked, according to the report.

Though a seemingly backhanded exoneration, the younger Trump tweeted a series of attacks on Democrats. In recent days, White House lawyers made the unusual determination not to assert executive privilege over any aspects of the report, Barr confirmed Thursday.
