A man has been detained for questioning in connection with the incident, the Poway Sheriff's Station tweeted, confirming "there are injuries".

CNN reported that a local hospital had received one trauma patient, but was expecting at least four others.

Multiple people have been injured and taken to the hospital following a shooting a the Chabad of Poway synagogue in Poway, California, police say.

A rabbi leading service, Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein, was among those said to be injured in the shooting, The Daily Beast first reported.

The shooting occurred during a Passover Holiday Celebration scheduled at about 11:30 a.m. PDT in Poway, about 30 miles north of San Diego.
